Card of the Day - terminus
Hallowed Burial used to be the ultimate sweeper for edh, as you could use it to pout opponents’ generals in the bottom of their libraries, stopping them from returning to the command zone. Terminus lets you do it for a miracle cost of W, which frees up your mana to cast another spell on the same turn.
This and Mystical Tutor FTW! :D
My friends and I love magic the gathering. We also love Skyrim. So when my friend came to me and said that he wanted to build Skyrim EDH decks and have massive battles we all said “Sweeeeeeeet, let’s do it.” I built Alduin the Scion of the Ur-Dragon because I felt that Scion fit Alduin’s flavor perfectly. With reanimation spells a plenty, some cheap red burn (fireball I’m looking at your awesomeness) and best of all three ways to cast “Fog” I built a Dragon tribal Alduin deck with few non basic lands. It’s cheap and fun, and so good that now they want to play Archenemy EDH to accommodate for Alduin’s power. The Dovahkin deck, the Overworld deck, the Sheogorath deck (including Un-Set cards) and the Towns deck versus the greatest threat to the safety of Skyrim and Tamriel as a whole. I love my deck because it kills as early as turn 4, but has a tremendously powerful late game plan.
I was hoping to get some heat off me in my playgroup because I used to play Sharuum a lot. Turns out they hate Thrun almost just as much too. :|
We played a 4 player EDH casual game, up against Kaalia of the Vast, a Zedruu the Greathearted, and a Merieke Ri Berit… They derped around for their land drops on turn 4-7, missing land drops here and there while I was ramping up for mana on the first 2-3 turns followed by equipment on turn 4. Thrun down by turn 5, and swinging onwards turn 6 with equipment and enchantments every so often.
Long story short, aggressive sights on me but they couldn’t stop Thrun’s rampage and eventually I won out against all 3 of them even if they were all trying to take Thrun out. Now they’re talking about ways to beat out Thrun specifically. :(
I don’t really like being the major target. >< It’s not my fault they had land-drop problems while I (being mono-green) was just ramping away. =/
Poor Thrun. ;~;
Commander: Sharuum The Hegemon
Combo Pieces: 10
Enablers: 11
Tutors: 17
Combo Protection: 9
Removal: 8
Mana Rocks: 9
Lands: 35
Sharuum is great and all, and I do want to focus on it to maximize its capabilities (ie: finding a way to get myself a mana vault, crypt, vampiric/enlightened tutors, etc.) but I feel like I need another commander deck that is more fun, interactive and enjoyable to play with 4-5 people.
I don’t want a commander that just focuses on just having fun though, I want it to win too. :| Oh the agony. :<
Any suggestions, followers? As a base deck, what about the “political puppet” commander pre-con as a start.
